Jesus Christ in Richmond Park viral
Last week the video of a hapless dog walker chasing his Labrador Fenton around Richmond Park – while the plucky dog in turn chased the local herd of red deer, and the owner’s screams for intervention from a higher power fell on deaf ears – went viral. And for the cameraman, Ali Goodyear, this meant a profitable introduction to the YouTube generation.
The video-sharing site allows users to retain full copyright of anything uploaded and by week’s end had offered Goodyear a partnership deal on any advertising revenues channelled through the page. He earned £500 in the first 24 hours of taking them up on their offer.
Then came the merchandising deals that saw the screams of “Fenton! Fenton! Jesus Christ!” hit the market as ringtones and catchphrases on T-shirts. Goodyear even revealed he had received a phone call from a Hollywood agent!
But almost better than the dosh (at least for those of us not in on the deals), is the creative mash ups a hot viral spawns. In this case, the despairing cry that makes the video being mixed over footage of everything from Jurassic Park to Braveheart. Here are some of gems…
Jesus Christ in Jurassic Park
Jesus Christ in Lion King
And of course the piece de résistance of any viral, what happens when Hitler finds out… Jesus Christ!

Homeless man with golden voice
Lovely story to kick off the New Year. As Don King would say “only in America” a homeless man with an awesome radio voice is given a second chance at life. After being discovered begging on the side of the road by a local reporter, a video of Ted Williams was posted on YouTube and became an overnight Internet hit. Now Ted, a former radio announcer who had fallen on hard times due to alcohol and drugs, has been offered a job as the stadium announcer for basketball team Cleveland Cavaliers!
It’s a great feel good story, try watching the videos below without welling up…

Fancy Working With Ridley Scott?
Top directors Ridley Scott (Gladiator and American Gangster) and Kevin Macdonald (Last King of Scotland), along with YouTube, have teamed up for a project unprecedented in movie making history. And the best part is their offering you a chance to be a part of it!
That’s right, you! Cos on July 24 the pair want you to shoot a part of your life, which they are then going to put together with the thousand other parts of other people’s lives to create a user-generated feature film.
The film titled Life In A Day will premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and if your footage makes the cut you’ll go down as one of the co-directors as well as being invited out to the festival to receive your plaudits personally.
Check out the promo video for the project (below) and visit the official YouTube channel to find out more.
