"Draw and Feel Alive" by C4C
Clothing 4 Culture’s ”Draw and Feel Alive” campaign is based around two designs by illustrator Shantell Martin exclusively for Clothing 4 Culture (C4C). Shantell recently hosted a live art exhibition sponsored by C4C where the attendees offered up their own skin as the canvas. Read all about the event here.
At our Christmas party in association with Rhumble (18 December 2010, 11-13 Market Place, London, W1), we will unveil Shantell’s designs on a selection of t-shirts, jumpers and bags. These exclusive items will be available to purchase on the night with proceeds going to support the “Draw and Feel Alive” campaign.
The intention behind the “Draw and Feel Alive” campaign is to make a practical difference to the daily lives of hundreds of children who do not easily have access to writing and drawing utensils. Draw and Feel Alive conveys the idea that children can learn and express themselves creatively through drawing and writing and might even discover hidden talents.
The campaign’s aim is to raise as many pencils and pens as possible to send to schools in Ghana, with several trips planned over the next year.
We’re starting on a small scale but we have big aims. It all begins with the Christmas party and your donation.
Although entry to the party is FREE, we ask that you support the campaign by bringing a few pens/pencils/crayons/ paints/ brushes to donate. At the end of the evening the box containing your donated items will be sealed and shipped to GHANA.
Join in the spirit of giving and help kids in Ghana to “Draw and Feel Alive”.

C4C Draw and Feel Alive exhibition
A few sample snaps from the Clothing 4 Culture “Draw and Feel Alive” exhibition last Wednesday. New York based illustrator Shantell Martin initiated more brave members to her pen tribe including Love4Culture’s very own mythical wordsmith The Meehan.
Like a man on a surgeons operating table, The Meehan waited apprehensively for the outcome.
The event took place at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch. In typical Love4Culture fashion, the vibe felt just like a bunch of friends coming together to enjoy a different kind of creative night out.
The interesting thing about Shantell’s method is that she doesn’t know what she’s going to draw before she starts. She works off instinct which means everybody gets a unique piece. So enticing that even C4C’s Oge offered himself up!
Like brick walls for graffiti artists or tracing paper for cartoonists, your skin provides the canvas, a creative medium for Shantell to unleash her talents on. My favourite pieces are these sleeves.
There was something for everyone. Even those feeling a little more apprehensive about body art were able to dip their toes or hands into the water. Good times!
