Incredible colour footage of 1920s London shot by an early British pioneer of film named Claude Frisse-Greene, who made a series of travelogues using the colour process his father William – a noted cinematographer – was experimenting with. I know that fall is a long way from now but I am just letting you know these tricks now so that you will still have time to learn them. Maybe some of these tricks can be done this spring!

Sometimes evening gowns are a little bit too loose in the waist area. The solution? Put a harness or a belt on it just like this look from Prabal Gurung.

Jumpsuits can sometimes be intimidating. Dial it down a little bit by wearing a solid coloured blazer on top of it just like this look from Jen Kao.

Layer your gauzy white dresses on top of each other to crate an ethereal look like this from BCBG Max Azria.

Roll up the sleeves on your T-shirt into your coat sleeves. From wrist-length to bracelet-length to elbow-length and beyond, it’s an easy way to bring some continuity to your outfit. (look from Karen Walker)

“Julie Mehretu makes large-scale, gestural paintings that are built up through layers of acrylic paint on canvas overlaid with mark-making using pencil, pen, ink and thick streams of paint. Mehretu’s work conveys a layering and compression of time, space and place and a collapse of art historical references, from the dynamism of the Italian Futurists and the geometric abstraction of Malevich to the enveloping scale of Abstract Expressionist colour field painting. In her highly worked paintings, Mehretu creates new narratives using abstracted images of cities, histories, wars and geographies with a frenetic mark making that for the artist becomes a way of signifying social agency as well suggesting an unravelling of a personal biography.”

Divine series by San Francisco based, Kenyan artist Allan deSouza.

“The Divine series (2007-8) consists of land-, water- and sky-scapes photographed during commercial flights. Each photograph is mirrored so that, with its reflection, the doubled images suggest divine-like manifestations, whether human-made shrines, mythological figures, aliens and other figments of the social imagination.”
