The Modern Pantry
I was introduced to the Modern Pantry by Kate P back in 2010. I came to realise that for a while, it was one of Clerkenwell’s best kept secrets but now it’s pretty well known. When I saw this video about the lady behind it, apart from being nostalgic, it revealed some of the mystery about the restaurant.

“In this film we visit Anna Hansen, Owner & Head Chef of The Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell. Born in Canada and raised in New Zealand, Anna studied business management before venturing out into the world of food. Anna is one of the best young chefs in the world, and has just published her first book entitled ‘The Modern Pantry’”.

Buffalo Boss
I love this. Big cousin is a self-made millionaire so he helps little cousin achieve his dream of opening his own restaurant and hopefully little cousin will do the same for the fam when he makes it…
Buffalo Boss, a new chicken wing restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn is backed by hip-hop legend Jay-Z. The co-owner is the rapper’s first cousin Jamar White. This will definitely be on my list of places to eat next time I’m in NYC. All the reviews seem good. Loving the heaven/hell concept.

Artisan Chocolate
Move over Diary Milk, Hersheys, Nestle and the rest. We’re loving the fact that Mast Brothers chocolate is traditional, created in-house (at a factory in Williamsburg, New York) from cocoa beans sourced from small farms in Madagascar, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic in a process which matches the very style of the two brothers.
Check this short film by Tom Ran for the Scout, this chocolate is made with love, from the tiny bean to the bar, from the delicate small batches to the beautifully intricate, hand-folded packaging.
We could almost taste it while watching the short over at Love4Culture HQ. Has anyone tried it (New Yorkers especially)? Give us you thoughts…
